Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is an important skill to have, especially in your working life. Developing good entrepreneurship and financial skills will teach you how to use your money wisely and grow it for a successful future.

Social media is a big part of today’s entrepreneurial skills. Social media is the way to get your point across and accessibly to everyone in this day and age. In my spare time, experimenting with promoting my content for the Scots Scoop has led me to conclude two things that lead to a bigger audience. Posting the content on multiple social media platforms and using lots of hashtags.
Hashtags, similar to keywords, are used to bring users more defined results of what they want. They bring a certain demographic of a targeted audience. Hashtags have helped me significantly, not just for Scot Scoop, but for my personal Instagram posts, promoting the clothing that I sell, and my leisure social media accounts that I want to get a bigger following.
The Media Arts program has taught me many tips on how to grow more traction on the articles and media we publish on the site. For one, keywords. Keywords are used to attract a certain demographic to your content.
Tracking the statistics of your articles and seeing what demographic is attracted to your content also helps you grow and tinker with your content to attract more viewers.

In Journalism, I continued my social media promoting through Twitter and Instagram stories, but this time, I utilized the tagging feature where when certain people are tagged, they can re-post the story to gain a larger audience. I saw a significance in the audience once I started to implement this feature into my Instagram and Twitter posts from the guest featured on that specific episode re-posting. In one instance, a person saw the repost and contacted me to be on the next episode for my podcast, The Tune Talk.
In Journalism, everybody was tasked to sell a certain amount of ads or magazine subscriptions to fund The Highlander, Carlmont’s magazine. I sold $360 worth of ads. I contacted, advocated, and went to businesses in person to inquire if they would be willing to promote their business by buying an ad. This was greatly out of my comfort zone but this assignment, especially being a large portion of my grade, encouraged me.
Entrepreneurship and social media skills were put into action for a Pinterest post I published to promote my brand.

Along with Twitter, I taught myself to maximize the audience for my short film I released earlier this year in YouTube.
A successful featured Buzzfeed quiz I made gained a lot of traction on the website and taught me important social media and entrepreneurship skills.
An old Instagram post of mine that did fairly well. I learned to use hashtags to grow a larger audience to my content.
